Research Physical Therapist University of Florida Gainesville, Florida
In this presentation you will learn about the application of the GiggleFIT Therapeutic Play Gym (TPG) in a variety of patients and practice settings. It was designed around motor learning principles of stability, repetition, and variable practice in developmental positions of supine, side-lying, prone, and supported sitting. It is intentionally simple and portable so that therapists and caregivers can help children learn motor skills in a variety of contexts and settings. The current kit has 8 different washable latex-free Benik cuffs and straps for head, chin, arms, and legs, and 2 additional stabilizing trunk straps/cuffs for children with scoliosis. What I enjoy most about taking the GiggleFIT TPG to community therapists and caregivers is watching them come up with new treatment activities and cuff/strap configurations to meet the child's goals.
