Latinx children are under-identified when it comes to autism spectrum disorders. Many professionals feel unequipped to correctly identify autism characteristics in bilingual/bicultural children and diagnosis may be delayed or incorrect. As a Latina early childhood specialist, the presenter shares her insider-perspective on autism and the Latine culture. She gives professionals working with young children ideas and tools to help them identify possible differences in early social and communication development to decrease the gap in identification of bilingual and/or bicultural children.
