This 2 day PreConference course is aimed at faculty with up to 5 years experience teaching the Pediatric content in DPT programs. The aims are to enhance teaching skills, increase confidence and breadth of teaching approaches that are consistent with the core competencies in the APPT pediatric physical therapy education consensus document and to support CAPTE requirements for faculty development. Day 1 will cover the basics of curriculum development and methods of incorporating the competencies. Day 2 will focus on assessment methods, integration of evidence based practice, and developing a scholarly agenda.

Learning Objectives:

Describe strategies for integrating the Pediatric Competencies into entry level education and describe how they guide course specific curricular decisions.
Evaluate teaching/learning strategies relevant to course/content structure, including curriculum fit, syllabus development, class and laboratory content organization, basic assessment strategies and integration of clinical reasoning and experiential learning opportunities.
Identify strategies for integrating evidence-based practice into Pediatric Core Competencies education and advancing a scholarly agenda.
