After an introductory overview of the case series method for implementation in the NICU setting, 4 unique case series are presented to illustrate innovative examination or intervention practices by Neonatal Physical Therapists. The case series are described by a panel of Neonatology Fellowship Graduates from 2 accredited fellowship programs. They address innovations for infants with feeding impairment, neonatal opiate withdrawal syndrome, or autonomic stress with routine care. The Neonatology Fellowship research component is highlighted to demonstrate how clinicians may develop, document, and analyze care practices to advance the science of Neonatal Physical Therapy.

Learning Objectives:

On completion of this course the learner will analyze the feasibility of using the case series method for documenting and analyzing infant responses to interventions in the NICU setting.
On completion of this course the learner will describe innovative interventions implemented by Neonatal Physical Therapists for infants born preterm.
On completion of this course the learner will explain the feasibility and role of Neonatology Fellowship research in advancing the science of Neonatal Physical Therapy practice
