This presentation reviews the Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Health Equity Initiative, a $17,000,000 investment to address health disparities among LBTQ women and non-binary Californians. The presenter is the lead strategy evaluator of the project, providing research and technical support to community partners across four key strategies: (1) health access demonstration pilot projects, (2) health service provider capacity building projects, (3) community education and (4) outreach grant recipients. The presentation will cover community advocacy to bring about the initiative, the key elements of empowerment evaluation - a tool to work in collaboration with community stakeholders, and preliminary data describing key challenges and successes of the initiative.
