Desmond Haneef - Perry is the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Navigater at 3c Recovery Support Training Institute. In that role , he is
responseable for scheduling , training legestics , and providing assistance to newly trained Peers. In addition to his role at 3c Recovery
Training , Desmond is an activist and advocate for the training of Peers behined the wall.
Desmond's passion for the training of Peers who are severing time in Maryland's state facilities , comes by way of having fisrt hand knowiedge.
Entering prison at the age of 19 , he severed a total of 20 years on a Life sentence behind bars before being released in May of this year. During
his time in prison , Desmond was able to see the profound affect Peers can have on an institution .
As an Inside Peer , Desmond helped to organize , coordinate , and facilitate the largest substance use disorder program in the Maryland Division
of Corrections. Using SMART Recovery as it's foundation ,this program has provided services to over 500 men at the Jessup Correctional Institution.
