Christina Mazza is the Statewide Peer Unit Supervisor with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender. She oversees Peer Recovery Specialists Opioid Diversion and Linkages Project in Harford, Frederick, and Washington Counties, as well as Parent Adovcates in a pilot program with OPD's Parental Defense Division which represents parents whose children have been removed from their care. Christina is a Registered Peer Supervisor, Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, and Certified Community Health Worker. Personally, Christina identifies as a person in long term recovery from a substance use disorder. Christina's passion for working with her clientele comes from her experience behind the prison walls as well as involvement with Child Protective Services. Christina continues to stay actively involved in her own recovery process and utilizes her experience, strength, and hope to assist others in seeking and finding their own recovery.
