Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will:

Describe SAMHSA support of harm reduction and SAMHSA’s collaboration with stakeholders.
Identify where to find resources and technical assistance on harm reduction.
Describe real world examples of collaboration between harm reduction programs and opioid treatment programs.

Harm reduction is a priority area and one of four key pillars in the Biden-Harris Administration’s overdose prevention strategy. An opening presentation will describe SAMHSA's support of harm reduction, the SAMHSA partnership with CDC to expand the National Harm Reduction Technical Assistance Center (NHRTAC), and present specific examples of partnerships between harm reduction and opioid treatment programs (OTP). The session will highlight the power of collaboration between community and provider to provide comprehensive and person-centered services. The session will end with a facilitated discussion between the presenters and attendees.
