At the completion of this activity, participants will:

Apply nondiscrimination laws as they relate to individuals with substance use disorders.
Explain the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 and how it can be used to meet responsibilities to protect clients and promote well-being of children and families.
Identify how child welfare agencies and state court systems can address civil rights compliance.

Presentation Summary: This workshop will impart a strong foundational knowledge on what is and is not considered a disability under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Section 504 regarding substance use disorder and the applicability of the definition of disability to individuals in recovery from an opioid use disorder.
