At the completion of this activity, participants will:
Demonstrate skills available to use when working with pregnant women with Substance Use Disorders
Describe available Medication Assisted treatments, the importance of their use, and how they are used in pregnancy
Define social determinants of health that affect pregnant women with a diagnosis of SUD and how to find resources to best serve our patients
Presentation Summary: Pregnant women with SUD are stigmatized. This session will discuss how to address this stigma and teach each other best ways to care for pregnant women with SUD. This includes improving comfort in discussing SUD with women of childbearing years, confidence in using screening tools, knowledge of available treatments, knowledge of common pregnancy terms, raise awareness of health care disparities and discuss ways to improve these disparities and the distrust our patients have of the healthcare system, and share experiences.
