Presentation Summary: The escalation of the opioid epidemic has reached new heights during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the CDC, there were over 100,000 fatal overdoses in the U.S. during the first year of the pandemic, from April 2020 to April 2021 - resulting in the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in a single year.1 Simultaneously, opioid trials have continued to move forward with forthcoming settlement funds that require strategic coordination and thoughtful implementation to maximize their impact. Application of expert guidance and innovative best practices across key priorities areas that directly impact vulnerable populations and save lives are essential.
