Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will:
Describe patient-tailored therapeutic approach to treatment.
Assess treatment monitoring and outcome for clinical standards.
Identify specific indexes for evaluating the outcome of treatment.
Presentation Summary: A patient-tailored therapeutic approach in the field of Heroin Use Disorder (HUD) appears to be still in its infancy. The study of patients' specific psychopathology, craving behaviour covariates and stress reactivity pointed to novel clinical information monitoring patients under Opioid Agonists Treatment (OAT). During treatment, long-time HUD patients tend to show an impaired capacity to experience pleasure, anhedonia, and a more severe stress reaction to life events, interfering with the rehabilitative programme. To date, retention in treatment is still the primary goal of OAT, and there is no agreement regarding specific indexes for evaluating the outcome of treatment.
