S2219: Pediatrician’s Role in Care of Children With Sickle Cell Disease

Children and adolescents with sickle cell disease deserve collaborative support from pediatricians and hematologists. This session will review evidence-based guidelines that address the pediatrician’s role. Faculty will discuss prenatal screening, preventive care, hydroxyurea, pain, acute chest syndrome, routine transcranial doppler ultrasounds, and resources to facilitate the transition to adult medical care.
