The prevalence of MIH has increased and as clinicians we notice it in our clinical practice. With an aetiology that we do not know exactly and many hypotheses trying to explain it, the treatment of the hypomineralized molar is a real challenge for the dentist. There is a variety of treatment alternatives, the choice and proper management of each of them is a decision of the clinician and will depend on the clinical situation of our patients. New materials and treatment alternatives for treating hypomineralized teeth as well as pulp therapy in young permanent molars will be included in the presentation.
Regarding dental caries, its prevalence is still high in many parts of the world, especially among children 1 to 5 years-old. The focus on caries prevention on the first 1000 days of life is important. The main risk factors related to caries lesion in children will be discussed based on recent scientific evidence. In regard to the information retrieved on risk factors it would be possible to classify the child according to the caries risk and to book the appropriate recall interval. Evidence based effectiveness of dental caries preventive clinical methods also will be presented.
