About twenty years ago it was believed that once a dental pulp became necrotic the only treatment option was to either to fill the canal space with an endodontic filling or extract the tooth. Now it has been realized that in case of open apex there is a possibly, at least in some cases, to regrow tissue back into the root and more importantly stimulate some further growth of the root. This presentation will review the history of pulpal regeneration and evaluate where it is today. Current indications and techniques will be presented and latest outcome studies reviewed.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, the participants will be able to recoginze cases that pulpal regeneration could be applied.
Upon completion, the participants will be able apply in their pratice the most current techniques for pulpal regeneration.
Upon completion, the participants will be able to discuss with their patients and their parents/care givers the likely treatment outcome of pulp regeneration as well as alterative treatment options.
