This course presents an overview of treatment, procedures and tribulations in a typical day of your life in a pediatric practice. Non-invasive treatment, local anesthesia, preventive practices, early childhood caries with caries risk assessment, risk assessment for orthodontic decalcification, restorative, parafunctional habits, behavior guidance and finally, parental presence for treatment are discussed. Participants will return to practices with a fine-tuned ability to provide care for their patients, educate parents and bring their best back to the office team.
Learning Objectives:
• determine the indications and appropriate procedures for non-invasive treatment along with knowledge of the etiology of early childhood caries, enabling them to educate parents and also determine caries risk for early childhood caries and orthodontic decalcification
• optimally administer and assist with administering local anesthesia to the pediatric patient and provide methods to intervene with parafunctional habits
• incorporate pointers provided for behavior guidance and parental presence for treatment
