As COVID-related protocols evolve and restrictions continue to lift across the nation, it remains unclear what teledentistry will look like post-pandemic and if the strong demand for teledentistry will continue into the future. This session will examine the full-circle future of teledentistry by exploring: • Teledentistry as a hybrid approach to dental care, providing virtual advice and diagnoses at times outside of dentists’ operating hours or for fewer in-person appointments, saving consumers time • Teledentistry curricula in dental schools • The importance of teledentistry for individuals who live in rural areas who otherwise must travel long distances to visit a dental office to receive care.
The Committee of Dental Benefit Programs will provide an update on the benefits available to members. The program will also discuss the CDT code revision process and updates to CDT 2022. The remainder will be focused on member coding issues such as narratives, extra-oral versus intra-oral bitewing images, CDT D1355, and resources available to complete medical claim forms.
