Matthew's previous experience as a flight and tactical paramedic prior to medicine drives his urge to spread educational resources not traditionally found in the medical school curriculum, aptly named the "Hidden Curriculum". His speaking experience began in 2019 with a presentation on "Acute Stress Management for the Healthcare Provider" at the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) Conference in Roanoke, VA. He carried his passion for education, teaching and mental health into two poster presentations at AAEM19 and AAEM21, and the AAEM Critical Care Medicine Sections (CCMS) 2Breve2Dulce Competition, where he presented on the topic of "The Forgotten Diagnosis Among Intubated TBI Patients". He developed and taught the "Introduction to Critical Care and Anesthesia" course previously at St. George's University, with a similar curriculum approach.
