The Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network Rule for Risk Stratifying Febrile Infants​

The talk presents the PECARN Febrile Infant Rule. A brief history of decision making tools applied to febrile infants is discussed initially. This leads into a thorough and concise evaluation of the original clinical study used to derive and internally validate the tool. Included is a review of binary recursive partitioning, the modeling approach used in the derivation. Attempts to externally validate the tool and a discussion on its clinical application concludes the talk.
