Gender diverse patients, including people who identify as transgender and nonbinary, face specific challenges. They are more likely to face economic and housing insecurity, to be uninsured, and to be the victims of violence. Self-harm and suicides rates are also higher in this population. Lack of provider knowledge and misgendering are common complaints about ED visits. This panel will educate on optimal language and approach when discussing the difficult topics surrounding these visits.
