Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) is a potentially life-saving intervention in non-compressible torso hemorrhage (NCTH). Traditionally, the use of REBOA has been limited to surgeons; however, recent studies have shown successful use by other frontline providers. Emergency Medicine (EM) physicians are well-trained in obtaining rapid vascular access and may be key players in performing REBOA as a part of early damage control resuscitation. This is especially true in low-resource settings with limited immediate surgical capabilities, but with access to rapid evacuation to surgical care. This study aimed to determine if this 12-hour curriculum would impart the knowledge and skills requisite for REBOA placement to EM residents.
