The immediate post-cardiac arrest period is a critical time where a systematic approach to care can significantly impact survival to discharge with meaningful neurologic survival. The emergency physician is uniquely positioned to provide time-sensitive, appropriate, post-arrest care that may have the greatest impact on whether the patient with ROSC from OHCA is discharged with good neurologic survival. In this lecture, the speaker will review recent post-arrest literature on targeted temperature management, post-arrest coronary angiography, and optimal targets for oxygenation, ventilation, and hemodynamics.
