How to Prevent a Clean Kill When Instituting Mechanical Ventilation in the Emergency Department

Placing sick patients on mechanical ventilation in the ED is fraught with peril. This presentation will review patients at greatest risk when delivering positive pressure ventilation: unstable asthmatics, those in shock states, patients with severe hypoxia and those with profound acid base disorders. A case based format will be used to deliver life saving pearls.
