Delirium is a deadly diagnosis that is often missed in the ED, and can be the only presenting sign of an underlying serious illness. This lecture addresses the shortcomings in the diagnosis of delirium in the ED, its impact on morbidity and mortality, and a simplified approach to diagnosis and prevention in susceptible patients in the ED.
