Endodontic outcome studies show that preoperative infection affects treatment outcomes. It follows that adequate disinfection may result in better outcomes. However, endodontic infections are difficult to assess with accuracy, may be related to the extent of preoperative biofilm formation, and may be influenced by many host-related factors. This presentation aims to address these issues as they relate to endodontic infections and outcomes of non-surgical treatment, in cases with mature and immature apices
