Dr. Herbranson graduated with a BS in Physics in 1964, a DDS degree from Loma Linda University in 1970 and a MS in Endodontics from Loma Linda University in 1973. He has practiced endodontics in the San Francisco East Bay since that time. He has been involved politically in the dental community by serving on most of the Alameda County Dental Society board positions, including President. His last service was as Trustee to the California Dental Association.
He has been actively involved in education for years having given many lectures locally and nationally on endodontics as well as presentation skills and microscope photography. He has lectured at numerous dental schools and authored textbook chapters and articles. He is an Opinion Leader for a major endodontic supply company and helped develop their corporate education protocols. He was declared Alumni of the Year from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2006
Dr. Herbranson is a nationally recognized expert in surgical microscope photography and developed the of the X-Mount camera mount systems for Global Surgical Corp
He is a founder of eHuman.com who is the developer of the Tooth Atlas, a computerized atlas of the anatomy of human teeth. This atlas uses the considerable power of current computers to generate three-dimensional models that can be viewed interactively and in full stereo. It has been recognized as a significant tool in learning the complex microanatomy of teeth and is being adapted by many of the dental schools in the United States. This work was done at Stanford University and was supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health. It can be reviewed at www.toothatlas.com.
