Dr. Dionne received a DDS and MS in pharmacology from Georgetown University and a PhD in pharmacology from the Medical College of Virginia. He conducted clinical research in pain, analgesics and the management of perioperative apprehension at the National Institues of Health where he served served in several administrative positions. He has edited 5 scientific monographs and textbooks, co-authored greater than 200 publications and was editor of Anesthesia Progress for 7 years. He subsequently was a professor of pharmacology and East Carolina Univerity and the University of Connecticut. He retired in 2021 to boating.
