LT Anika Islam began her residency training in July 2021 as a first-year resident at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School Endodontics program. She attended Georgia State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology in 2011. From 2012 to 2016, she attended the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and upon graduation, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. After completion of Officer Development School in Newport, Rhode Island, newly commissioned LT Islam completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Naval Dental Center Camp Lejeune in 2017. She went on to continue her service as a General Dentist at Camp Lejeune from 2017 to 2019, during which she provided dental support in various field exercises, mobile dental units, Operation Trident Juncture in Norway, and the Integrated Training Exercise at 29 Palms, California. Additionally, she successfully earned the Fleet Marine Force Pin being stationed with the marines. After her operational tour at Camp Lejeune, LT Islam served at NMRTU Bahrain as the Command Infection Control Officer from 2019-2021 after which she reported to NPDS for residency training.
