LCDR Grant Rutherford is a second year Endodontic Resident at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School. Originally from Aurora, Colorado he completed his undergraduate education in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2006. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in May 2010 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Following graduation, he completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego. After his PGY-1 tour, LCDR Rutherford served onboard USS New Orleans (LPD-18) and completed a WESTPAC deployment. Next, he served as a general dentist at 3d Dental Battalion, in Okinawa, Japan from 2013-2015. Returning from his OCONUS tour, LCDR Rutherford served at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA from 2015-2018 where he promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. From 2018-2020 LCDR Rutherford served as a general dentist at Naval Branch Health Clinic, Jacksonville, FL where he served as Dental Department Head. LCDR Rutherford began his residency training at NPDS in July 2020.
