Abstract: Injectable dermal fillers gained great popularity in the past decade to correct soft tissue defects and improve cosmetics. Temporary fillers include collagen injections, hyaluronic acid gel, calcium hydroxylapatite and Poly-L-lactic acid. Although the FDA has approved certain injectable dermal fillers for facial use, these products can cause adverse reactions to some patients. The aim of this table clinic is to present cases that were improperly referred to the University of Florida department of endodontics for treatment.Guidelines related to the differential diagnosis of these cases will be presented, since often times the foreign body reactions will result in similar clinical symptoms as odontogenic infections. In addition, a proper questionnaire will be presented on how to obtain a thorough medical history related to cosmetic medicine for better diagnosis and clinical awareness.
