(TC38) Guided Endodontic Access of a Calcified Maxillary Central Incisor Using a New Dedicated Software for 3D Treatment Planning

Abstract: This case report describes the digital and clinical workflow used to perform the endodontic treatment of a maxillary central incisor with pulp canal obliteration. A 62-year-old female patient was referred to the post-graduate Endodontics clinic for evaluation of tooth #8.  The tooth was diagnosed with pulp necrosis and symptomatic apical periodontitis. Radiographic examination showed canal obliteration up to the middle third of the root. CBCT and oral scans were taken, and Sicat Endo software (Sicat, Bonn, Germany) used to plan an orthograde guided access. The guide was ordered along with specific burs. After checking the fit of the fabricated Accessguide, the access was initiated using round diamond burs followed by the specific burs provided by Sicat. The root canal was quickly located and the endodontic treatment performed in a single visit.  The use of the Accessguide was deemed a reliable and efficient method for performing orthograde endodontic treatment in a tooth with pulp canal obliteration.  The digital workflow provided by Sicat software was simple and user-friendly.
