Abstract: It's time to change our way of thinking about hearing aid consultations and consider a new way of consulting with our patients to improve their lives through better hearing. It starts with how we view ourselves and the partnership we establish with our patients. We’ll discuss the role of the provider in the counseling process. Then, we’ll discuss how using storytelling is the best way to marry our business goals with the expectations our patients have for us. We’ll discuss how this approach can help us reach our goals while also offering a better quality of life to our patients.

Identify the old methods of counseling patients and why they might not work with today’s educated, tech-savvy patient.
Create a Story Map to build their own story to use during patient counseling.
Identify a new alternative to the outdated counseling approaches, bringing a re-energized approach to the conversation between hearing care providers and their patients.
