LM410 - The Effects of COVID-19 on Cognition: Identification and Management Strategies

Abstract: It is only in the past nine months that research has emerged that has identified brain structures along the auditory pathway that are affected as a result of treatment used for coronavirus patients. Analyzing this newly discovered information along with pre-existing knowledge about hearing/auditory perception, listening and cognition, this program will attempt to enlighten the audience about how to objectively and subjectively evaluate and manage COVID-19 patients who have communication complaints in the presence of normal audiograms. Management strategies with and without amplification will be addressed.
