Dr. Emily Thompson (Au.D., CCC-A) currently serves as a Ph.D. student and research audiologist in Vanderbilt University's Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences, mentored by Dr. Anne Marie Tharpe in the Pediatric Auditory Development Laboratory. Dr. Thompson earned her Honors B.A. degree in Psychology and Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Connecticut (2015) and her Au.D. degree from Vanderbilt School of Medicine (2019), after pursuing a graduate specialty concentration in management of early childhood hearing loss. In addition, Dr. Thompson participated in both the NIH T35 Traineeship and LEND programs, prior to completing 4th-year externship training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her clinically translational research leverages electrophysiological techniques and assistive technology interventions to investigate the intersection of auditory brain development and behavioral outcomes in youth with hearing loss. Future projects include exploring innovative advances in pediatric amplification, and designing effective aural rehabilitation strategies within an interdisciplinary framework.
