Nikki Keeton is a senior clinical educator and the head of the clinical training platform at the University of Cape Town where she has worked for the past 10 years. Her research has been focussed on clinical teaching and diversity as well as on interdisciplinary care. Nikki joined Dr. Catherine Palmer’s Healthy Engagement thru Auditory Research Core (HEAR Core) research lab in 2021 as a research assistant and PhD student. She will now be working on Dr. Palmer’s PCORI study, HearCARE: Hearing for Communication and Resident Engagement, that is looking to improve the quality of life for people with hearing loss living in assisted living facilities. The study has a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and patient centred outcomes which will be a particular area of interest for Nikki while working with Dr Elaine Mormer on this study.
