Dr. King Chung is a Professor of Audiology at Northern Illinois University. She is a Fulbright Scholar and a recipient of 2020 AAA Humanitarian Award. Her research interests include:
1) applying advanced signal processing technologies to enhance hearing aids and cochlear implants;
2) developing apps to promote hearing loss identification, amplification, audiometric equipment calibration, and health information dissemination;
3) examining wind noise characteristics and derivation of wind noise reduction strategies; and
4) facilitating quality hearing health care for underserved or unserved populations around the world.
She has examined many different factors in hearing aids and cochlear implants that would affect wind noise characteristics and recommended wind noise reduction strategies. As a part of her commitment to humanitarian audiology, Dr. Chung and her collaborator has released a free hearing test app (Aud•It) in Apple store to facilitate the identification of hearing loss around the world.
