Gael Hannan is a renowned speaker, writer, and hearing health advocate. She has profound hearing loss and is bimodal, using a hearing aid and cochlear implant. Since 2011, her weekly articles on the hearing loss life for Hearing Health Matters & Technology editorial team have gained her a passionate international following. She writes the consumer column for Canadian Audiologist, and is the author of two books, the critically-acclaimed “The Way I Hear It: A Life with Hearing Loss” and "Hear & Beyond: Live Skillfully With Hearing Loss", written with Shari Eberts, and available in May 2022. Over the past 25 years, Gael has created award-winning programs and presentations, and has collaborated with hearing-related organizations around the world. She has served on the national and provincial boards of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association and lives on Vancouver Island with her husband Doug, aka the Hearing Husband.
