Joan Besing, PhD, CCC-A is a Professor and the Program Director of the Clinical Graduate Programs in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Montclair State University. She received her Ph.D. from Louisiana State University and did Postdoctoral training in the Sensory Communication Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2013 she was named a Fellow of ASHA. Her research focuses on the behavioral and electrophysiologic effects of noise on perception of speech by bilingual listeners. An additional research focus is the effects of age, hearing loss and divided attention on localization performance. Dr. Besing serves as a member of the editorial review team for the American Journal of Audiology.
