Isabel Herb is a second year graduate student in the Doctor of Audiology program at Northwestern University. She went to Miami University in Oxford, OH. At Miami, she was a double major, getting a Bachelor of Science in communication science disorders, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. While at Miami, she assisted with research in the Gerontology department regarding perceptions on residential care facilities. She was nominated as the most outstanding undergraduate student in speech and hearing at Miami University, recognized at the 2020 Ohio hearing, speech, and language association convention.
At Northwestern, she joined Dr. Jason Sanchez's central auditory physiology lab to work with Kailyn McFarlane and Emily Kidwell on her capstone research project. Together they are looking to identify electrocochleography recording parameters for the optimization of early/fast evoked potentials. She has a strong interest in the clinical usefulness of evoked potentials, and how they can be used as part of the standard test battery. Her research interests include searching for biomarkers of hidden hearing loss using evoked potentials. Upon completion of her AuD, she plans on practicing for a few years and eventually pursuing a PhD.
