My primary research intrest is the improvement of academic outcomes for students who are deaf and/or hard of hearing. I originally begun my graduate career pursing a Doctorate of Audiology, however, working Dr. Kamakshi Gopal’s lab sparked my interest in research, resulting in my pursuit of a joint Au.D/Ph.D education to further my knowledge of how to effectively conduct research and interpret data. Dr. Gopal has an extensive research record and has been instrumental in my technical training. Under Dr. Gopal’s mentorship I have experience evaluating the neural responses of the auditory system to different sound stimuli in individuals with high functioning autism after auditory training and use of Frequency Modulation systems. I also have been conducting research that utilized the late auditory evoked potential, the mismatch negativity, and the P300 to look for potential biomarkers that could be used in the diagnosis of tinnitus.
