Dr. Linda Thibodeau is a professor at the University of Texas at Dallas, has dual certifiction in audiology and speech-language pathology, and directs the Hearing Health Lab (www.utdallas.edu/hhlab). She is known for her work on speech recognition in noise, auditory training, and assistive technology for persons with hearing loss. Her research on wireless technology has led to the development of best practices for fitting and verification of remote microphone systems. As co-chair of the ANSI working group, she led the development of electroacoustic protocols for Hearing Assistive Devices/Systems which was approved as the ANSI S3.47 standard. Her collaborative work has included an NIH-funded clinical trial of auditory training programs for children with language impairments which resulted in receiving the Outstanding Research Article award from the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research. Through collaborative NIH-funded research with UTD engineering faculty, a set of open-source platforms has been developed that operate on smartphones to enhance speech recognition in noise. In addition to accepting invitations to write numerous book chapters and serving as guest editor for Seminars in Hearing and editor of the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology, she has over 100 publications in various journals. Dr. Thibodeau has received the Frederick S. Berg Award in Educational Audiology and the Cheryl DeConde Johnson Award recognizing outstanding achievement in educational audiology. She also has served as consultant to 10 North Texas school districts over the past 15 years.
