Abstract: Cochlear implant (CI) users who listen with a hearing aid (HA) on the contralateral ear, also known as bimodal listeners (CI+HA), typically experience better performance on spatial hearing tasks in the combined condition than with either technology alone. Performance in the CI+HA condition may be limited however due to differences in the processing speeds between the CI and HA. Matching the processing speeds may support better performance on binaural hearing tasks. Adult bimodal listeners completed tasks of speech recognition in noise and sound source localization with the processing speeds matched versus at the defaults for the individual devices.
