Abstract: Enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) is the most commonly seen inner ear anomaly found in children with hearing loss. While EVA-associated hearing loss has been studied extensively, investigations of balance and vestibular loss in children with EVA have been very limited and controversy. To better understand the importance of balance and vestibular testing in children with EVA, we conducted a thorough review of the balance and vestibular testing outcomes from pediatric patients with EVA seen in our specialty program.

Recognize balance and vestibular loss in children with EVA and hearing loss.
Describe abnormal balance and vestibular outcomes in these children.
Conduct balance/vestibular screening for young children with EVA.
