Abstract: This study utilizes a single-subject treatment design to assess the sensitivity of a cognitive screener in predicting appropriate hearing aid technology as determined by compression scheme. A total of six subjects will participate in this study over a three-month period, two of each demonstrating normal,” “moderate, and “low” executive function as measured on the Cognivue Thrive screener. A commercially available RIC hearing will be fit binaurally on each patient, and this device affords the audiologist to select either a fast- or slow-acting compression scheme. Outcomes related to clinical application will also be discussed.
