MM201 - The Evolution of Signal Processing in Complex Environments

Abstract: It is well accepted that a primary concern for hearing aid users is understanding speech in background noise. Most hearing aids process through a single pathway where compression and other algorithms, such as digital noise reduction, may have some unwanted interactions when they are applied. A combination of providing a clean input signal to the algorithms and utilizing split pathways, spatially separated signals can be processed according to unique level and modulation characteristics in complex listening environments.

In this session we discuss the application and benefits of split signal processing.
