Abstract: One of the most challenging aspects of pediatric audiology (re)habilitation is maintaining consistent device usage with young patients. Our research examines how utilizing a hearing loss simulation during counseling at device orientation might impact hearing aid wear time. The simulator enabled caregivers to listen to changes in speech characteristics based on their child’s unique loss, and offered valuable insight into how the child experiences sound while unaided. Preliminary analyses of the data suggests a significant impact of hearing the simulation on datalogging times, resulting in approximately five hours more of daily device usage than that of a control group.
