Learners will explore diversity, equity, and inclusion terminology, how unconscious bias shows up within their own practice and work setting, and methods to build awareness and advocacy for marginalized communities.
Learners will simultaneously develop an understanding of the lens through which he/she/they view the world and explore medicine and the role of audiology in upholding or dismantling injustice.
Learning Objectives:
Define and describe the various terms related to diversity, equity, and inclusion relating to the practice of audiology.
Critically examine their own personal beliefs, attitudes, and biases about historically marginalized people and cultures in the United States and across the world.
Recognize and critically reflect upon one's own cultural biases and how that could impact patients and colleagues.
