The introduction of the over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids to the market may be a disruption in practice but has the potential to be a positive or innovative disruption that evolves service delivery to increase access for consumers in need of hearing health services. The role of the audiologist does not change in putting the patient first and providing the breadth of quality hearing and balance care; however, the audiologist does need to understand regulatory implications and understand his/her role in triaging care. Academy volunteer leaders will discuss resources available for audiologists and consumers and facilitate a discussion to address FAQs.
