Abstract: For a child with hearing loss, being fit with a hearing device(s) is the first step to developing listening and spoken language; the next step is learning how to use this device(s). CID— Central Institute for the Deaf recognizes this and has developed a variety of auditory training tools to support children learning listening and spoken language. From learning how to incorporate listening into an infant’s daily routine to engaging a school-aged student in structured auditory training sessions, CID has a resource to support any child on their journey to auditory-only learning success.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize the importance of auditory training/(re)habilitation as a key component for developing listening and spoken language skills and identify the auditory-skill level associated with each presented tool.
