Program Abstract: Researchers in biology, medicine, public health, and other fields contribute important knowledge to the existence and impact of historical and present-day inequity while often having to navigate the impacts of inequity themselves. Join consultants from nonprofit diversity, equity, and inclusion consultancy VISIONS Inc., all of whom have experience doing related academic research and/or supporting STEM organizations seeking to become more equitable, in an exploration of the tensions, conflicts, ambiguities, and possibilities of engaging in this kind of research in environments that are still grappling with being equitable and inclusive. Panelists will offer brief comments on their experiences as academic researchers as well as organizational culture change consultants, followed by an open Q&A session.
